Dandelion Vineyards is excited to announce that GT Builders were the winners of the 2023 HIA South Australian Small Commercial Project $2 million – $5 million award for the Wonder Room held in November 2023.
Elena and Zar’s vision of the Wonder Room was realised with the help of Hank Kaas, Looka Design, and Darren Jones from GT Building Group, who repurposed an old tractor shed into a space that blends rustic features with modern design elements. The interior design choices were made to mimic ironstone and limestone found in the soil to represent the vineyard, creating a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The Wonder Room’s extensive glass window façade and grand amphitheatre-style sitting steps highlight the stunning natural landscape, providing visitors with a comfortable place to relax and appreciate the vineyard’s beauty. The Wonder Room truly stands as a testament to the harmony between architecture, landscape, and viticulture.
This award recognises excellence in the construction and design of a non-residential building. The judging criteria included quality of workmanship, design effectiveness, visual appeal, innovation, environmental sustainability and site.
