Colin Kroehn tended his Eden Valley Riesling for 66 years. Our Wonderland of the Eden Valley is made entirely from his vineyard which was planted in 1912 and thrives to this day.
Whole bunches were hand picked in the last week of February then destemmed in small batches without crushing the fruit to fill our press exactly. The free run juice was then fermented in small tanks between 11 and 14 degrees Celsius, the wine has a high level of natural acidity, a low pH and although bone dry, only 10.9% alcohol.
This Wonderland of the Eden Valley Riesling was bottled with minimal winemaking artifact to capture the essence and purity of the vineyard, a looking glass if you will, and is ready to drink immediately or cellar for decades. Thank you and Vale Mr. Kroehn Vintage 1924 - 2010.
This wine is suitable for vegans.
"Quite flinty edges and lemon peel with crushed stone and spice. Restrained. The palate holds a ripe and concentrated core of intense citrus fruit. Dry and sleekly refined. Excellent. Drink now."
"Youthful and bright in the glass. Aromas of lemon pith, bath salts, white lily and a salty, sherbet lift. Tight, tangy and citrusy on the palate, a touch of green melon, very fine, racy acidity, a little lick of phenolics giving texture and shape."
